Trevor Arthur Atcheson

Posted

On Monday November 18, 2024, we lost our beautiful Trevor Arthur Atcheson, born December 27, 1989. A beautiful son, father, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, and friend. He was all around a beautiful man.
Trevor was in Spokane working hard on his important projects the day when he went into ventricular fibrillation. His heart just could not take it anymore. Trevor was such a fighter, he wanted to live so much for his son, Hayden, and for his family. His plan had been to sign up for school in January of 2025.
Trevor was working hard to progress. Trevor's physical ailments may have torn him to pieces, but every time he struggled, he got back up and put himself back together again. When Trevor was 10 years old, he and his dad walked into Tolman Creek in the Madison Range near Ennis on a hunting adventure. He loved it. We have a picture of him leaning against a tree with his little orange hat on. He was so strong and brave. Trevor can never be replaced, and our hearts are shattered into a billion pieces in his loss. We now must pick up the pieces and put them back together again, because that is what Trevor would have wanted and expected.
Trevor’s Dad was able to talk with Trevor just before he passed. He promised Trevor that everything was going to be okay, and we were all going to take the best care of Hayden moving forward. Trevor acknowledged that conversation with his dad, and we cannot forget it. We know Trevor had so many people that loved him and he loved you too. His love will forever be invincible.
It is significant that Trevor passed one week to the day after Veteran's Day. Trevor and his dad had just been talking about his Papa, and how much he is loved and missed. Papa was so brave in the Korean war and now Trevor can be at rest with his Papa, Arthur Jack Atcheson, who he absolutely adored. They will now be hunting and fishing partners in the happy hunting grounds of Heaven, chasing the bulls, bucks and trout and there is so much glory in that! Trevor was also able to spend time with his Gramma who he loved so much, Mary Claire Atcheson, just before he left us.
Trevor was raised in beautiful Butte, MT. He played Butte junior hockey for years as #19 and made great friends like Kevin Violette and James Adamo. Trevor was so proud to be # 55 for the Butte High Bulldogs. His senior letters in football and track meant the world to him. He will always be the proudest Butte High Bulldog! He made so many friends on that team including Dylan Grady. Trevor loved the entire Grady family, and they always loved Trevor back. Brodie Stradinger was such a great friend to Trevor, and they were a real hoot when they were together. Brodie’s dad, Jerry Stradinger was always so kind to Trevor. Cameron Dinatale was a great friend of Trevor’s from Spokane and will continue to have a positive impact on our lives. Trevor was lucky to have made such a great friend before his passing and he really made a point of wanting it to be known how much he appreciated and looked up to Cam.
Other people who really loved Trevor, and who had a major impact on his life were Kevin Crystal and his boys, Dru and Colin, as well as the whole Crystal Clan of Bozeman. His son Hayden’s big brother, Landen Lamar, Hayden and Landen’s mother, Misty Lamar, Amy Polich and her parents, Bill and Marilyn, Edward and Jan Ashley, Charles and Rachelle Stephenson were also people who impacted Trevor's life immensely. We also recognize the Bender’s, Tom and Terri (RIP), JT and Britney, Andy Reid who always had Trevor’s back, and Jessica from Spokane, who was with Trevor in the emergency room until the very end. She was so strong and supportive of him during an exceedingly difficult moment. We also thank and recognize everyone who helped Trevor with his medical benefit in 2012 and beyond. Trevor appreciated all the love and support.
Trevor had many amazing teachers, coaches, and instructors over the years, but Mrs. Pomroy from Whittier School, Chris Fisk and John Bercier from Butte High are shining examples of what impact teachers and educators have when they are they are the absolute best at what they do.
Trevor was an amazing and strong swimmer, spending countless hours swimming in Montana's lakes and rivers. He was an Atcheson and the mountains, the rivers, the forests, the peaks, and valleys all called to Trevor his whole life. He loved to hunt and fish and spend time with his dad, his papa Jack, grandpa Jordan, his uncles, and friends. Trevor could get around in the mountains at twelve years old, like few grown men could ever dream of. The strength that he had when he was younger, before he was stricken with cardiomyopathy, was a testament to how long he survived.
Trevor graduated from Butte High School in June of 2008. He spent time working and doing part-time college classes, then he entered Montana Tech in 2011.
When Trevor first got sick in December of 2011, he had just been placed high on the Dean's list at Montana Tech and had just achieved his personal best a of 330-pound bench press, something he had worked hard to achieve. The day he completed that milestone he had done the P90X workout twice with his friend, Dylan, and then they went and lifted weights. That was a huge accomplishment for Trevor, and it is shocking considering that only a month later, he was diagnosed with cardiomyopathy of his heart, which changed his life forever.
Please remember that your health and welfare are more important; get those checkups and do not wait. We did everything we could with Trevor right away, but his heart had already experienced tremendous damage because of the effects of his cardiomyopathy. Trevor was life flighted to Spokane in late December of 2011 and that began a long and challenging journey for a very brave young man.
On January 5, 2012, we nearly lost Trevor, the doctor’s said at 3:30 AM they did not think Trevor would survive, but by 5:30 AM, he rallied, and things changed substantially. Trevor continued to fight hard for the next 13 years.
Trevor’s greatest accomplishments are many, but his pride and joy was his son, Hayden Lamar Atcheson. Hayden is a beautiful boy, and Trevor made a point to his dad that he wanted to thank Mikki and Thane Lamar, for everything that they have done for Hayden in recent years. The sacrifices they have made have been immeasurable, and their continuing dedication to Hayden’s health and welfare are so commendable. Trevor always extended his gratitude for this and so does his entire family.
Trevor is survived by his son, Hayden Lamar Atcheson of Mansfield, WA; his father, Brian Atcheson (Sheri) of Butte, MT; his mother, Edwina Jordan of Helena, MT; sister, Trinda Lea Atcheson; brother, Liam Ferriter; his beloved nephew, Tristen Timothy Fahnestock; and his niece, Darla Grace Hibbs-Dibble, who he loved so much. He is also survived by, grandmothers, Mary Claire Atcheson and Linda Jordan; uncles, Jack Atcheson Jr. (Cindy), Keith Atcheson (Niki) and aunt, Kristie Baerlocher (Lee); aunt, Laurinda Stokke (Jade); uncle, Bruce Jordan; cousins, Andrew Atcheson, Alissa Atcheson and Adriana Atcheson (Mikey Palmer), Brook, Braeden, Lauren and Bohde Baerlocher, Ashley and Taron Stokke, Jack and Will Pesanti, Kanyon and McKynlee Flynn, and the little ray of sunshine that is Emmey Roo Palmer. Trevor is predeceased by his papa, Jack Atcheson Sr. and his grandpa, Larry Jordan.
Trevor especially liked writing rap, music, poetry, short and long stories. He left behind a mass of beautiful writings which the world needs to see. Certain things are just too important not to share.
He loved his family and his friends, and the Lord knows, we wish we had more time with him. Our task now is to make is to make sure that his legacy and his honor lives on.
Trevor was faced with unbelievable medical challenges. Trevor had an LVAD (left ventricular assist device) implanted in his heart. That device requires that the battery never die. Think about how often we let our cell phone battery die. With an LVAD, that is not an option. Everything involved in keeping Trevor’s heart beating created a huge mountain for Trevor to climb, and he kept climbing that mountain until the very end.
Trevor was a gentleman, a poet, a scholar, a philosopher, an incredible artist, and visionary. He was someone who captivated everyone who spent time with him. He was a gift to this earth. We love you, Trevor. You are now healthy and whole in Heaven.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Butte in early 2025, to allow Trevor’s Spokane family and friends to safely travel to Montana, with the date to be announced.
Arrangements are under the care of Hennessey Funeral Home (Division Street) in Spokane, WA. Please visit www.hennesseyondivision.com, to leave your condolences on Trevor's online guestbook.
