Douglas County PUD to remove cove boat ramp remnant

Posted

BRIDGEPORT – The Douglas County PUD will be working in the cove lagoon at the Bridgeport Marina RV Park early this year to remove the remnants of an unused boat ramp located there.

“They are going to get in the water and get the concrete section of the old boat ramp out of the water before Feb. 28,” Superintendent of Public Works Stuart Dezellem said.

“They have all their permitting place,” said Dezellem. “There are two times you can do in-water work in the Columbia River, and one of those ends Feb. 28.”

If the PUD does not take advantage of the early window, it will have to wait until after July 15 for the next opportunity.

“Then they will be ready to rock and roll on the rest of it,” Dezellem said.

The remainder of the project will involve revamping the bank to allow seating and better use of the swimming area Dezellem said.

The Cove Lagoon is a popular swimming area and, in the past, served as the site of the annual Hooked on Kids Fishing Derby.
